Truck Driver

A Truck Driver is responsible for the safe and timely transportation of goods and materials across various distances, whether local, regional, or long-haul. This critical role involves operating heavy trucks and commercial vehicles while ensuring cargo is handled properly and delivered according to schedule. Truck Drivers play a key part in the supply chain, requiring strong knowledge of traffic laws, vehicle maintenance, and route planning to maintain efficient and safe delivery operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate heavy trucks or commercial vehicles to transport goods, materials, or cargo safely and efficiently to assigned destinations.
• Plan and follow delivery routes, considering distance, traffic conditions, and weather to meet scheduled deadlines reliably.
• Perform routine inspections and maintenance of the truck, including checking brakes, tires, lights, and fluid levels to ensure the vehicle is roadworthy.
• Load and unload cargo with care, ensuring proper weight distribution and secure placement to prevent damage or accidents during transit.
• Complete and maintain accurate delivery logs, invoices, and vehicle inspection reports as per company and legal requirements.
• Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, safety protocols, and company policies during driving and delivery operations.
• Communicate effectively with dispatchers, warehouse staff, clients, and other stakeholders to coordinate deliveries and resolve any issues.
• Report any accidents, delays, vehicle malfunctions, or safety concerns promptly to supervisors.
• Comply with regulations regarding driving hours and rest periods to promote safe driving practices and prevent fatigue.

Skills & Requirements

• Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) or equivalent certification required for operating heavy trucks.
• Proven experience as a truck driver or in operating heavy commercial vehicles.
• Solid knowledge of road safety regulations, vehicle operation, and navigation.
• Physical fitness and stamina to handle long hours of driving and occasional loading/unloading tasks.
• Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, and extended trips if necessary.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure or during unexpected situations.
• Good communication skills to coordinate effectively with team members and clients.
