An Inventory Assistant plays a vital role in warehouse and supply chain operations by supporting the accurate management of stock levels. They help ensure that all incoming and outgoing inventory is properly recorded, stored, and tracked, contributing to efficient logistics and preventing stock shortages or overages. This position requires attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work closely with warehouse teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in receiving, unpacking, and organizing incoming stock, ensuring items are stored in the correct locations to facilitate easy access and tracking.
  • Conduct regular physical inventory counts and reconcile them with inventory database records to maintain accuracy.
  • Update and maintain inventory databases using specialized inventory management software or spreadsheets, ensuring all entries are accurate and up to date.
  • Label, tag, and barcode items for clear identification, making it easier for warehouse staff to track and locate products.
  • Report any discrepancies, damaged goods, or missing stock to supervisors promptly for investigation and resolution.
  • Assist in preparing orders for dispatch or distribution, ensuring correct items and quantities are packaged and ready for shipment.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization within storage areas to promote a safe and efficient working environment.
  • Collaborate with warehouse managers, purchasing, and logistics teams to ensure smooth inventory flow and stock replenishment.
  • Follow company policies and safety protocols, including proper handling of equipment and stock items.

Skills & Requirements

  • Basic computer literacy and familiarity with inventory management software or systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in performing stock counts and data entry tasks.
  • Physically able to lift and move stock items as required in a warehouse setting.
  • Good organizational skills and ability to manage time effectively.
  • Strong communication skills for reporting and teamwork.
  • Previous experience in warehouse operations or inventory management is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to shifting priorities.
